The dam in Yougo Dogourou

The biggest problem in Yougo Dogourou was the water supply. Every day women and children had to walk at least two hours and carry water uphill. Improving water supply was the first task to make the restoration possible. In order to have enough water, from which also the households could benefit, an existing dam was renewed and a new one with around 1,200 m³ was built near the village. The mud dug out during the construction of the new dam, was reused for the renovation of the granaries. The water supply was clearly an integral part of the restoration project.
