During a meeting with the mayor, the chef of the village and Sidi, our project manager in Nando, we discussed the three key projects for this year.
The first one is the road, which has started to be repaired and paved on the parts that were not completed, but already financed in 2014. The work goes on with a group of 30 men, who were chopping and hoeing.
The second issue is to appoint three houses of three families, one in each village, to start an entire rehabilitation project. Understanding how to mix the mud with sand, what means the lack of additives in the composition of the mud and the time that the mud needs to ferment, is very important to avoid the deterioration of these houses. In fact, due to heavy rain and the lack of maintenance, the mud skimming has dissipated, weakening the stability of the entire structure. Working only on one house instead of repairing it diffusely over the town, is a better choice in terms of quality, commitment of the locals and organization of the work.
The third point is related to the water problem of the area. The well with the old foraging, dated 1985, does not provide enough water to such an extent that the villagers are increasingly worried, because at the end of May there is almost no drinking water. Our first action will be using the method of spray-cleaning the old foraging, in the same way that we are using for the Blue Pump.
