The building process of the first classrooms of the Practical Training College in Sangha started, and we are waiting very impatiently for the construction of teachers’ houses! The reason is the beautiful dome roof structure that we are making for the first time. It was tested during an internship project in Sevare about which you can read here.
Each house consists of the main room (4800 x 4800 mm) and one to three bedrooms (3600 x 3600 mm). That way it is possible for families of different size to live there. The houses have a big private garden surrounded by a wall and enough space to expand if needed. Each family has their own toilet building and an outside cooking space.
All the houses are entered from a small square. We hope that it will become an important space for the small community of the families who will be living there, a place to socialize in the shade.
In the beginning the plan is to build five houses. The quality of this project is the possibility to expand within the same structure. As the Practical Training College will be growing, more teachers will be coming and we will need more houses. We made a proposal of how the small neighbourhood could expand, but of course different options are possible.
