Blue Pump Mali

Water and drinking-water remain prerequisite conditions for the improvement of living conditions. One might observe clear progress. On various spots, works have been realized and these develop both in the ‘towns’ as well as in the larger villages. Everywhere one should pay for water, 10 Francs CFA per 20 liters. This money goes to the water-committees, responsible for maintenance. Ten percent of this money, that is 1 Franc CFA goes to the manager of the pump. Water may be obtained form 6.00 o’clock until 18.00 hours. Remaining are the many small villages which still need hand-pumps and water-wells. There are many water drillings with hand-pumps of twenty years or older which overtime have got stuck by corrosion or which do not function well.

Jurriaan and ADI in discussion with Abdoulaye Mahamane, chief of the Service Hydraulique (“Water Office”).

During our visit to the director of Hydrology region Mopti in Bandiagara, we have concluded agreements regarding the supply of water to the Practical Training College in Sangha. We will dispose of a water drilling out of service which produces two m3 per hour! That will allow us to go forward well. Besides we have shown the newly developed hand-pump to the director. This pump is ultra strong, manufactured in a very heavy way but very light to use. This pump allows for water pumping by hand from a depth of 100 meter. The combination of the college, the training of pump installers, servicing and maintenance sent the director into rapture. He proposed spontaneously that he should teach personally at the college!

In short, it seems that Blue Pump Enterprise Mali was born!
